When submitting your files for output to Lightjet or Fujix be sure to have them set up correctly before you bring it in to our digital department. If you have questions about converting your QuarkXpress document to a Photoshop Tiff format give our digital department a call at 251-1900 and they would be happy to explain the process to you. Otherwise there is a $50.00 Ripping fee/file. It is your responsibility to verify that your file converts properly. Always include a proof of your Photoshop document that way you can make sure we are getting the document you want us to print.

Color Calibration

Color calibration doesn't have to be a big mystery and a lot of headaches. With our Grey Ramp incorporated into your file, we will have a much easier time getting your colors just by targeting white, black and grey when we go to print your file.

Hold down your cursor on this greyscale graphic to download the image to your desktop or your color calibration folder. When setting up your Photoshop file for the Lightjet or Fujix, add some space to one side of your canvas and paste this into that area. If the scale appears completely neutral on your monitor then you can expect to get a color matched print to your file. If there is a tint of magenta for example in the white then you can expect your output to be more green than what you see on your monitor. By checking this each time before you send us a file, we are better able to provide you with a print balanced to your color preference.

Cross Processing Tips

When experimenting with the latest cross processing techniques be sure to follow these basic guidelines:

C41 film - expose normal and push up to 3 stops in E6
E6 - underexpose by 1-3 stops (bracketing recommended) and process normal in C41

All times and ratings are starting points only. Different film types and ASA's will obviously yield very different results. Experiment with a variety of emulsions and manufaturers to obtain the results you are looking for.
Be sure to communicate clearly your processing requests to Keith, Dan, Michelle, Jim or Chris in Film Processing to avoid confusion and errors.
