Manihi, Tuamotus
Mohemohe anchorage after the boat landed on the reef.
August 1, 2000. 1400 local time. 4º27'52.2' S 146º02'13.5" W. Anchored off Mohemohe motu.
Terry returned to help us retrieve our four longest, 1" diameter lines that were tangled in the coral heads. He checked our rode and anchors. The chain was completely wrapped twice around a coral head. The grinding noise from the CQR has returned now. We think it might be fouled again. Repair and maintenance day. Jim cleaned and checked integrity of hull. Epoxied worst areas of damage. Kris photographed hull, cleaned cockpit and reorganized lazerettes. Bailed out shit in broken head and repaired foot of jib. Prepared boat for passage. Hopefully leaving tomorrow from this terrible anchorage.
