O'ahu, Hawai'i — Waimea Bay — Eddie Aikau Classic

Today Jim and I rode The Bus to the north shore. We stopped in Haleiwa for breakfast then went on to Waimea Bay where the Eddie Aikau Classic was on for the day due to a huge swell that came in in the middle of the night. Hundreds of people dotted the beach and the roadside to watch as 40 professional surfers from around the globe competed in the invitational. All the big Kahunas were there: Kelly Slater, Johnny Boy Gomes, Cheyne Horan and Peter Mel. The sets were at least 12' (25' faces).
